Hexagram 12 - Pi

HEXAGRAM 12

STOPPAGE

KEY WORD:  DIVORCE AND SEPARATION

TIMEFRAME: AUGUST/SEPTEMBER

MESSAGE:  REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE

MAIN COMMENTARY

Hexagram 12 indicates a time of stagnation and decline. Movement or activity is stopped. It's not to your advantage to pursue a goal or go anywhere. Since things have come to a halt and are moving away from each other the whole hexagram gives guidance on how to bring a state of inertia back to life.

Someone is being blocked or there is interference involved. The best approach is to accept the obstructions that temporarily interrupt things and prevent communication. There is obstruction to the normal course of things. Don't pursue it. Fall back on your inner worth.

You need to establish and secure your success. Don't waste energy on people and situations that are going nowhere and offer nothing.  Keep to yourself. Avoid self-serving people and decline all temptations of dazzling offers of privilege and wealth. There is no cooperate. Inferior people are causing problems for the superior person because they are looking after their own interests. Mean spirited people are at the centre of things and their power increases while the superior persons' power declines. A relationship abruptly ends because the superior person is stopped from advancing.

Hexagram 12 could also indicate something as simple as a computer glitch or a disconnected internet or phone line that is causing the stoppage. When the hexagram is unchanging it suggests that you are separated from the truth or from someone and there is no possibility of reconciliation for the time being.

LINES ANALYSIS

LINE 1

This is a good time to keep to yourself and not think about it or act so as to avoid getting hurt. Don't entangle your mind with complicated situations. Wait for a better time to realize your goal when its auspicious to persist and things can progress smoothly.

LINE 2

You are in the centre of a nasty situation where you have to tolerate and please others but you are held back from carry out your own plans and goals. It's like being in the midst of darkness and evil and having to tolerate it. Practice self preservation and self restraint to protect yourself. Stay positive and be optimistic. Don't let it get to you.  Avoid conflict. It's normal for evil people to tolerate each other and all nasty things. It's an auspicious time for them because they are sycophantic people-pleasers and flatter in order to gain favours.

LINE 3

An incompetent mean spirited person is still doing the walk of shame without feeling shame. This is arrogant and ignorant behaviour. Better to play it safe until evil times and evil people reach their end.

LINE 4

You are at a turning point. You need to re-evaluate a situation or a person. How do others see it? How do you see it? How are you seen and how others see you, is the issue? If you fail to act in a certain way that is expected of you you'll experience misfortune. Do something that is your calling and finds others with similar ideals to work or associate with. This way you'll avoid trials and tribulations and everyone will be grateful.

LINE 3

The analogy of  a mulberry bush is given because it has a strong root system and it is used to symbolize finding the way of making success certain. A turning point gives you the opportunity to end stagnation and secure your position but you need to make the changes yourself. Hold on to your goal but also bear in mind the possibility of failure. Be very cautious and determined to prevent it from happening again. A superior person knows that danger and confusion and disorder can occur at anytime even when he is secure and established. Therefore it is understandable to have fears and doubts, asking yourself; "What if I should fail? What if I should fail?"

LINE 6

How long can this last? After a standstill there is good fortune. Stay positive and look forward to good things happening.  A standstill comes to an end and all cause for distress ends. It happens naturally on its own but continuous effort is still needed to create order and maintain peace, otherwise things could get stagnant again.
